It's SINKS... It Floats... Test Flight trials & ERRORS!!!

After a 5 hour night last night at the shop we all came really wound up and ready to fly. We potted our camera housing. Straightened out the umbilical, mounted it to the frame. Made a new control box. Our old box proved too small when we finalized our wiring. Thanks to Cox for his great sanding and construction ability. Great ideas come when we work together and share our ideas.

Well today is the BIG day. We stuck her in the tank. She initially sunk. Like the Titanic. So we made some minor buoyancy adjustments, Notice the pretty white tubes? Now she is neutral or at least the debate is on about neutral. Does she fly is the next big question!!!! Yes and No are the right answers. She turns on a dime. Goes forward and back really well. Thanks to the use of the airplane props modified to the thrusters. But the model boat props well, THEY STINK!!! She does not go up and down so well. So I guess it is off to the hobby shop for more airplane propellers. We gave team 2 our extras so now we need more.
We had to ballast or umbilical today as well. That proved to be no problem.

Comments:
It was awesome walking in today and seeing the smiles and hearing the results. You guys got it.. and you did it YOURSELVES using the skills and talent that each of you have. That is what this little project is all about. You can apply what you learned in these last few weeks ANYWHERE..

It was never just about ROVs...

Now you know what "hard fun" is all about.. ;-)

Great work folks.
