A day in the life of a teacher...

Well folks, today was one of those days that I go home and feel good about being a "teacher"...
Seymour Papert (a constructivist "edu-guru") once said that "the tragedy of 'teaching' a student- is that you deprive them the opportunity to learn it themselves".
You guys were all about that today.
I am extremely proud of how each team made major strides with the projects today. We are all on track for next week. It is the end of the year- and all of the faculty here always look for a strong finish. You are living up to that today. Keep it up.
Its about the process.... helping each other, socializing, documenting the success and the challenges- and leaving artifacts for others to learn from. This is what life and constructivist learning is all about. You showed me that last semester and are doing it yet again. The MDT Fall of 2004 is one of those classes that will go down in this Professor's longterm memory.
I mean that too.
Today I looked at the teams not as students looking for a grade, but those who cared about a goal, each other, a budget and a result. That is exactly the way it is in this industry. Give yourself an "A"..
Next week, you will present and demonstrate before two who came before you at SBCC. Make them proud as you may be in their shoes someday- they may even hire you at somepoint.
I'm glad the campus community got a chance to see how special you are with the article in the Channels as well.
Additionally, Bill is still smiling down at all of you as the sand-dollars dropped from the sky this week....
